Small Farm Rising
One episode – 60 minutes
Distributed by NETA
The way this program begins, you almost think it’s an All Things Considered story on NPR. Curious sounds dominate over a near-black screen. We meet a small farmer picking what appears to be broccoli in the pre-dawn hours.
This is a film on the growing small farm/coop movement. People like you and me pre-pay a farmer for produce, giving him/her needed capital to plant, sow and reap, and giving his customers farm-fresh food later in the year.
Yep, this is a great NPR story. Considering how many people listen to NPR, this is a good one for public television.
Scheduling Suggestion
Near cooking programs, or next to This Old House, Hometime or other roll-up-your-sleeves how-to’s. Coming out of Sunday public affairs.
Worth Considering
Notes for newcomers – given the many variables in creating a public television station’s schedule, a program rated as “worth considering” means if it fits your overall mission, and you have room, go for it. A program “not worth considering” means it just isn’t right for public television in general.
